Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Exam | SSC CGL

Few months left for the aspirants to prepare for the SSC CGL 2024 examination. Yes, it will probably take place in June. However, the first notification isn’t out yet. What is SSC CGL?

SSC CGL is a combined graduate-level examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission of India. This examination is conducted to recruit candidates for Group B and C posts.


Every year 30 lakh people apply for SSC CGL exams and 15 lakh among them show up for the examination. Yes, almost half of them don’t appear but that does not indicate lesser competition. The number of vacancies was only 8,415.


These above-mentioned stats are not meant to scare you but to give you an idea of what kind of preparation and dedication a candidate must have.

SSC CGL Exam Date for 2024

The SSC CGL 2024 exam announcement is likely to be made available online on June 11, 2024. The Staff Selection Commission will make the SSC CGL 2024 applications available on its official website, ssc.nic.in. The SSC CGL 2024 will take place in August/September 2024. The SSC CGL 2024 admit card will be available four days before the exam day. Within a week of the exam's completion, the Commission will also provide the SSC CGL 2024 answer key.



To appear for the exam, the candidate needs to go through a registration or application process in which he registers himself and fills out the application form with the fee. Only the candidate will be considered accepted and will be given the admit card to appear for the examination. Each step of this long process is conducted on different days. SSC CGL 2024Eligibility Criteria

  • An Indian National
  • Graduation from a recognized Indian board or university or it's equivalent
  • The age limit for different posts under SSC varies accordingly (usually 18-30).

Age:

The candidate must fall under the age group of 18-32 to take this exam. So does it mean anyone older than 32 cannot take this exam? Well, there is some age relaxation for different categories of people. They are as follows: 


  • SC and ST candidates have an age relaxation of up to 5 years

  • OBC candidates have an age relaxation of up to 3 years

  • The PWD+General individual gets an age relaxation of up to 10 years

  • PWD+OBC people get 13 years of age relaxation 

  • In the case of PWD+SC/ST, it is 15 years

  • Ex-serviceman get an age relaxation of up to 3 years

  • Defense personnel who get disabled due to operational hostilities can get an age relaxation of up to 3-8 years. 

  • People who have been domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir between 1980-1989 get the relaxation of up to 5 years.

  • Central Government civilians from the general category can apply up to 40 years of age and the SC/ST ones can apply up to 35 years of age.

  • General category unmarried divorced or widowed women can apply up to 35 years of age and SC/ST ones for 40 years of age.

Nationality:

The candidates must be of Indian nationality. However, people from Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet who came to India as permanent residents, before Jan 1, 1963, can apply. The same thing applies to people who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Zambia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zaire to India.

Educational Qualifications:

It differs from post to post. A graduate can apply for all the posts except Assistant Audit Officer, and Junior Statistical Officer. To apply for an audit officer, one must have a CA/CS/MBA, M.com, degree. For a statistical officer, the candidate must have 60% marks in maths in 12th standard and statistics as a subject as part of any stream in his graduation.

Attempts:

There is no limit. As long as you complete all the eligibility criteria successfully, you can apply. 

Applying for SSC CGL 2024

This step-by-step guide will help you to apply for the examination without being misguided and confused. 


Registration

As soon as the registration portal opens. You register yourself by using your email ID and phone number. An OTP will verify both. After that, you get the application form. You can get it from https://ssc.nic.in/Portal/Notices


Application Form Submission

You just need to fill the form with basic information like your address proof, sign, photograph, mark sheets, etc. You have to choose the examination center in the same process.

Corrections

After that, you review it once to make corrections. It is better to be assured.

Fee Payment

The last step is the fee payment. As per your eligibility and fee structure, you can pay the fees online or offline. However, online is suitable.

Admit Card Download

When the SSC CGL 2024 admit cards are available on their official site, you can collect the same by using the credentials you used while registering.

Only General category students have to pay the fee of 100 rs. For others, it’s free.

SSC CGL 2024 Exam Pattern

THE SSC CGL examination is divided into 2 tiers. The first tier is easy but the second tier has 2 sessions and sections under each session. Though it sounds complicated, here is the simplified version:

Only those candidates who will qualify for Tier 1 will be eligible for Tier 2.

Preparation Tips for SSC CGL 2024

SSC CGL 2024 is going to be more challenging. Therefore, a solid preparation plan is a must-have. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Make a list of chapters you have practiced well and the ones you don’t have much grip on.

    After that, you can prioritize according to that. Start preparing for chapters that are not clear first.
