A temple with strong beliefs: JEE, NEET students to scribble their wishes on ‘wall of beliefs’
The coaching hub of the country- Kota sees lakhs of students every year coming to Rajasthan with a dream of getting into the best engineering and medical colleges. The process of making dream come true is extremely challenging that includes hectic study hours, untold pressure, and whatnot.
To lessen this stress, students have found a temple called the Radha Krishna temple in the Talwandi area. The priests at the temple informed us that more than 300 students visit the place every day. Students scribble wishes on the walls of the temple. In addition to it, a mind-blowing piece of information priests at the temple shared that the belief among students is so strong and has grown over the years that the temple has to be painted every two months for making space for students to write their wishes.
The scribbling started long back when a few students visited the temple to pray and wrote their wishes on the wall. Then parents of two students visited the temple a few months later and offered a donation claiming that the wishes of their children have been fulfilled. When this news spread, scribbling became a thing for everybody. The wishes include- selection in IIT JEE or medical entrance tests, asking for their concentration back, wishing for specific colleges (‘AIIMS Delhi’, ‘IIT Delhi’), jobs for family members, etc.
The priest also told that earlier when students would write on the walls of the temple, they would warn the students citing defacement but when the faith of the students grew stronger, a wall named as ‘wall of beliefs’ was dedicated to them.
Not only writing wishes, but the temple is there for students to come to meditate and feel better amidst the stressful competition. Apart from students, their parents also pay visits whenever they come to pick up and drop off their children. This tells that the temple holds strong beliefs among the people.
A student when asked about the temple, said she has not written anything on the wall yet, and that she will write her wishes closer to the exam but she said whenever she feels low or stressed, she visits the temple to offer prayers and sit there for a while to relax. It is an undeniable fact that students in Kota studying for these competitive exams live in a very stressful and suffocating environment. They face competition all around- with their co-aspirants, with themselves, keep their parent’s expectations alive with them. It is extremely sad to know that every year many students commit suicide failing to handle the pressure. More than preparing for IIT and NEET exams, students are tested in such an environment. Kota, indeed, has great institutes for exam preparations but it is purely on the person how he copes with the environment there. Kota is a place that can either fulfil your dreams or crush them.
As IIT JEE and NEET 2023 tests are around the corner, this temple is going to be flooded with students and their wishes. IIT JEE (Mains) is to begin on January 24, 2023, and the NEET (UG) 2023 is to be held on May 7, 2023.
