The AFCAT 2 2024 notification has been released for 304 vacancies for various roles. The selected candidates will be allotted Short Service Commission embarking a huge imprint on their journey with Indian Air Force. Registration starts on 30th May 2024 to 28th June 2024, exams to be scheduled in September.The Indian Air Force has issued a brief notification for AFCAT 2 2024. The online application process will begin on 30th May for admissions to fill in over 300 vacancies.

According to the schedule, the registration portal for AFCAT 2 2024 will be available from May 30 to June 28, 2024. Before the application process starts, the IAF will publish a detailed notification regarding AFCAT 2024.Candidates selected through the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT 2024) will be eligible for courses starting in July 2025. The Indian Air Force plans to fill a total of 304 vacancies for Short Service Commission (SSC) positions in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.

Age Limit:- 

For flying branch, candidates must be between 20 years- 24 years of age as of July 01st 2025.

For ground duty, candidates must be 20 years- 26 years of age as of July 01st 2025.

Application Fee:- 

Candidates registering for AFCAT 2024 will need to pay an examination fee of Rs. 550/- plus GST. However, those registering for NCC Special Entry are exempted from this fee.

Marking Scheme:-

Here are the key points of the marking scheme for the AFCAT exam:

• For every correct answer, three marks will be awarded.
• For every incorrect answer, one mark will be deducted.
• No marks will be awarded for unanswered questions.

To ensure fairness in the evaluation process, the difficulty level of questions in AFCAT 1 and AFCAT 2 is considered during the normalization process. This practice helps account for any variations in difficulty between different sets of questions, thereby preventing any unfair advantage to candidates.

Syllabus:-

The Air Force Common Admission Test is held twice a year to select candidates for the Flying Branch and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical) in the Indian Air Force.

Selection Process :- 

The AFCAT selection process is a multi-stage examination designed to assess a candidate's suitability for becoming an officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF).

1. AFCAT - Online Written Examination:- The first stage is an online test comprising 100 multiple-choice questions across four sections. The test is worth a total of 300 marks, with each correct answer carrying 3 marks. The duration of the exam is two hours.
2. Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview:- Candidates who pass the written exam are invited to the AFSB interview. This rigorous evaluation determines a candidate's suitability for a military role and is conducted at various Air Force Selection Boards across India.
3. Medical Examination:- Candidates approved by the AFSB undergo a comprehensive medical examination to ensure they meet the necessary physical standards for military service.
4. Final Merit List and Selection:- A final merit list is compiled based on a candidate's performance in the AFCAT written test, AFSB interview, and medical examination. The top-scoring candidates are selected for training at the IAF Academy.

Key points:- 

• To participate in the various tests at AFSB, candidates must be in good physical condition upon reporting for SSB. They should aim to achieve a minimum of 10 push ups, 3 chin-ups, and complete a 1.6 km/1 mile run in 10 minutes.
• Candidates with tattoos are generally not permitted, except for religious symbols or names of family members. However, these tattoos are only allowed if they are located on the inner forearms, wrists, or back of the palm.
• The use of narcotics is strictly prohibited. Candidates will undergo checks for drug use during the medical examination, training, and even throughout their careers as officers. If a candidate is found to be using or in possession of drugs at any point during their training or career, they will be disqualified from entering or, if already enlisted, terminated from the Indian Air Force.
