GATE 2025 examination schedule released: Check out examination schedules, syllabus, eligibility, exam pattern and more

GATE 2025: The Graduate Aptitude Test 2025 is scheduled to take place on the next year February month. In the next year 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will take the responsibility of conducting the GATE 2025 examination.

The expected date for the application process is expected to be released on August 2024. From the officially released data the expected date of the examination is on the 1st, 2nd,15th, and 16th of February. The tentative schedule for the GATE 2025 exam is provided on the official website of IIT Roorkee https://gate2025.iitr.ac.in/index.html.

This year GATE 2024 was conducted by IISc Bengaluru on the 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th of February 2024 and the exam result was announced on 16th March 2024. This year a total of 8,26,239 candidates registered for GATE 2024 out of which 6,53,292 appeared while only 1.29 lakh candidates have qualified the exam. Compared to the previous year GATE 2023, more than 25% of candidates are selected this year.

The GATE 2025 examination will conducted in 176 cities coming under 8 zonal centres which are IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras, this year there are no international centres for GATE 2025 examination candidates from foreign or Indian nationals who are interested in appearing for the GATE 2025 examination will have to take the exam in India not likely in previous GATE 2024 examination which had conducted in some of the foreign countries.

What is GATE Examination?

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national exam that evaluates candidates' understanding of various subjects at the undergraduate level, including Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities.

The exam is conducted jointly by IISc and seven IITs: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee, on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB) - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

 GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria

Given points are the GATE 2025 Eligibility criteria, candidates are must have to meet one of these criteria to apply for the GATE 2025 examination.

  1. currently in the 3rd year or a higher year of any undergraduate degree program.
  2. You have completed a degree program that is officially recognized by the government in any of the following fields: Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.
  3. Candidates with certification from the below professional societies must ensure that the examinations they completed are recognized by the Ministry of Education (MoE), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), University Grants Commission (UGC), or Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B.E./B.Tech.), architecture (B.Arch.), or B.Planning.

    The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
    The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
    The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI)
    The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (IIChE)
    The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM)
    The Indian Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIIE)
  4. Candidates who have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degrees from countries outside India must meet the following criteria:
  5. Currently in their 3rd year or higher in their program or must have completed a Bachelor’s degree (lasting at least three years) in one of the following fields: Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.

GATE 2025: Exam Pattern

The GATE 2025 is a CBT mode examination with a test paper in English, the examination duration is set for 3 hours Exam is conducted in two shifts 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (Forenoon shifts) and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm (afternoon shifts). The examination is divided into 2 sections General Aptitude (GA) and Candidate's Selected Subjects.

The GATE 2025 examination will consist of 30 test papers, which include full papers and sectional papers. Candidates can choose to take one or two test papers from the available two-paper combinations. The GATE score that candidates achieve will be valid for THREE years from the date when the results are announced.
