Know How Kanishk Sharma Cracked IIT JEE Main and Advanced - Preparation Strategy and Books to Read
IIT entrance is one of the competitive exams in India. Every year lakhs of candidates compete to get seats in the prestigious IITs. It has two different entrance examinations: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Many students struggle to pass the examination because of its tough syllabus.
Here we have shared the success story of Kanishk
Sharma, who cracked IIT JEE Main and Advanced in his first attempt. He has
shared his preparation strategy and the books he read. This would be an
inspiration for many students.
Kanishk Sharma scored an All India Rank (AIR) 20 in
JEE Main and an All India Rank (AIR) 58 in JEE Advanced in 2022, that too in
his first attempt. He got a seat in Computer Science Engineering at his dream
college IIT Bombay.
Kanishk Sharma started his preparations very early.
He started to prepare from class 9. During class 11 and class 12, he joined a
Kota-based institute for his JEE preparation. But due to the pandemic, the
classes were held online. He has shared the tips he followed for exam
preparation.
Making a TimeTable
A timetable will help you plan the day and give you
an idea of what needs to be done. In his case, he always ensures that he
fulfills the task he set up on that day, sticks to the syllabus, and does
anything outside the syllabus if needed.
Revision is a Must
When you complete the entire syllabus right before
the exam will leave you with no time for revision. Also, he says revision is
very important. It not only helps to find your weaknesses but also helps to
manage your strengths. He completed the syllabus nearly 3 to 4 months before
the JEE Main exam. His coaching teachers made a schedule, and he stuck to it.
For the last 2 months, he did a lot of revision.
My Everyday Study Plan
Everyone will have their own study plan, which will
help them with their learning. Likewise, he, too, had a study plan. Instead of
revising all three subjects every day, he would study two subjects a day on a
rotational basis. This helped him maintain the consistency of studying the
subjects and get the much-needed break.
That One 'Tough' Topic
He had trouble with the inorganic chemistry topic.
He had difficulty in memorizing the topic. Therefore, he ensures that he
studies it every alternate day and revises it so that he can be better at all.
After all, practice makes perfect.
My Weaknesses and Strengths
His father is a Maths teacher. He always taught
Maths to him, which made him develop an interest in the subject from a very
early stage. Physics was neither easy nor difficult. He says it is manageable
if you get your doubts solved. He found Chemistry to be a little tough.
Books I Referred
He stuck to the materials and books provided by the
coaching center. Apart from that, he studied HC Verma for Physics, JD Lee for
Inorganic Chemistry, and LG Wade for Organic Chemistry.
In his Class 12, he had Physics, Chemistry,
English, Mathematics, and Physical Education. He had an interest in Computer
Science but didn't formally study them in Class 11 and Class 12. He did not
have Computer classes as well. He had either painting or physical education
classes. This is the first time he will study Computer Science in such depth in
college.
Apart from his studies, he has a keen interest in
music and loves playing sports. He has joined the singing club at IIT Bombay.
Even during his preparation, he would always take some time to listen to music
and play sports.
