Student Concerns Rise as NEET PG 2024 Exam Centres Assigned Randomly

Students Raise Concerns Over NEET PG Examination Centre Allocations

The NEET PG 2024 exam, scheduled for August 11, 2024, has once again become a significant source of concern for medical aspirants throughout India. Nearly 2 lakh students preparing for the examination are grappling with issues related to exam center allocations, which many claim have been assigned arbitrarily, leading to increased stress and anxiety.

Exam Center Allocation Issues

The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) distributed the city intimation slip for NEET PG 2024 on July 31, 2024. However, the allocation of examination centers has sparked widespread dissatisfaction among students, who report being assigned to locations far from their hometowns, causing logistical and financial challenges.

According to recent reports, several students from northern states have been assigned centers in the southern parts of the country and vice versa. This requires candidates to travel distances ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 kilometers.

Specific Instances Include:

  • Students from Delhi have been allocated exam centers in Kerala.
  • Aspirants from Jaipur have been given centers in Ahmedabad.

These allocations have raised serious concerns about the process, with many students stating that they have been assigned centers that were their last choice.

The issues surrounding exam center allocations are compounded by the introduction of a new normalization formula and unexpected changes in the exam date, which have further heightened anxiety among students:

  • New Normalization Formula: Introduced just a month ago, this new scoring system has left students uncertain about its impact on their exam results.

  • Exam Date Changes: Sudden alterations to the exam schedule, including a cancellation just 10 hours before the previously planned date, have added to the stress and confusion.

The growing dissatisfaction among students has led various student organizations to urge the government to address the issues promptly. Many have taken to social media and other platforms to express their concerns and demand action.

Health Minister JP Nadda has assured students of intervention in the matter, stating that efforts are underway to resolve these issues and ensure a fair examination process.

The NEET PG 2024 examination is crucial for medical aspirants, and the current allocation problems underscore the need for a more transparent and efficient system.
