NEET UG, CUET 2023 exam dates released!
The wait is finally over! The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently announced that it will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on May 7 and Common University Entrance Test (CUET) which was affected by technical problems this year between May 21 and 31.
And in addition to this, NTA also announced the reserve dates for JEE Main and CUET. For JEE Main January session, the reserve dates are February 1, 2, and 3 while for the second session which will be conducted between April 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12, the reserve dates are April 13 and 15.
The reserve dates for CUET are June 1 to 7.
What is NEET UG?
In simple words, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET (UG) is an All-India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue their career in medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), etc courses in private and government colleges/universities.
All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) was replaced by NEET and it also replaced many other pre-medical exams which were conducted by various medical colleges. In addition to colleges in India, NEET also provides admission for those intending to pursue a medical career abroad.
NEET started in 2013 but due to lawsuits filed against the exam, it could not be held in 2014 and 2015.
What is CUET?
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is an all-India test for admission to various UG, PG, Integrated, Diploma, Certification courses, and Research Programs. The exam is acknowledged by 45 Central Universities but is also accepted by several other State Universities or Deemed universities in India. The exam pattern is MCQ-based questions, and the exam is a Computer Based Test (CBT).
This year NEET (UG) was conducted on July 17 2022 and the results were out on September 7, 2022. It was conducted in a total of 3570 centres and 497 cities with 14 cities outside India. Around 18 lakhs students registered for NEET 2022 and over 16 lakhs aspirants appeared in the exam.
The CUET 2022 was held between 15 Jul- 11 Sept 2022 and the results were declared on 16 Sept 2022. Around 14 lakhs students registered for the exam and over 9 lakhs students appeared on the exam day.
The NTA will release the application form for NEET-UG 2023 soon. A minor change in the duration of the exam has been made as earlier the exam was 3 hours long but this time 20 more minutes have been added i.e., 3 hours and 20 minutes. The registration process for CUET 2023 will start in the first week of February 2023.
