Registration Window for CAT 2024 Closing Soon: Check last date, eligibility and registration process
CAT
2024: The
Indian Institution of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) will close the
registration link for The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 the day after tomorrow, 13
August most probably after 5 pm. The registration link was live on the main
home page, eligible and interested candidates can register on the official
website at
https://iimcat.ac.in/per/g06/pub/32842/ASM/WebPortal/1/index.html?32842@@1@@1.
The CAT
2024 exam will be conducted in approximately 170 test cities.
Candidates are allowed to select any five exam cities according to their
preference. However, note that the CAT authorities may make changes to the list
of cities. This year, IIM Calcutta will administer the CAT 2024.
Candidates
looking to get admission to postgraduate degrees, such as an MBA at the
nation's esteemed IIMs and other participating B schools, can do so by taking
the CAT exam. A total of 91 non-IIM universities admitted applicants to their
various management programs last year using the CAT results.

CAT 2024: Eligibility Criteria
The
candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent
CGPA (45% in the case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD) or possess an
equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of
India.
Candidates
appearing for the final year of the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification
examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting
results can also apply. Only if they provide a certificate from their
University/Institution confirming completion of all requirements for obtaining
the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification by a specified date.
Candidates
must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone
number throughout the selection process. Throughout the selection process,
candidates are required to provide a working, distinct email address and mobile
number. IIM has highlighted the statement “Applicants should note that the mere
fulfilment of the minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration
for shortlisting by IIMs.”
CAT 2024: Major Changes
Some of the
major changes in regard to the CAT 2023 examination are listed
below:
- Increased Application Fee-
Application fees have been increased for both general and reserve
categories. General category fees have been increased from 2400 to 2500,
while reserve category fees have been increased from 1200 to 1250.
- Expansion Exam City- The CAT
exam will now be held in 170 cities, up from 167. However, candidates are
now limited to selecting 5 cities for their exam Centre, compared to 6
cities in the previous year.
More than
1,000 MBA schools, including 21 IIMs, accept CAT scores from students pursuing
an MBA. FMS Delhi, SJMSoM IIT Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon, DoMS IIT Delhi, and SPJIMR
Mumbai are notable non-IIM B-schools.
CAT 2024: Documents Required
Candidates
must submit scanned copies of specific documents during CAT
registration 2024 in order to verify the information provided in the
application. The following essential papers must be submitted in order to
finish the CAT registration process:
- Mark sheets of class 10th and
12th.
- Bachelor’s degree/diploma
certificate and other academic qualification documents.
- Work experience certificate (if
applicable).
- Scanned copy of recent
passport-size photograph and signature. Here are the specifications for
the photograph and signature documents.
CAT 2024: Exam Pattern and Structure
The
structure of the exam is mostly the same, consisting of three parts: Data
Interpretation, Verbal and Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Aptitude.
Nevertheless, test-takers need to anticipate a combination of Multiple-Choice
Questions (MCQs) and Type-in-the-Answer (TITA) questions.
The test
will consist of a mix of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and
Type-in-the-Answer (TITA) questions, adding up to 198 marks in total.
