2.8 Lakh vacancies are to be filled for the post of Group D and Group C across the country. All such decisions are taken by the Ministry of Railways.
There are 21 RRBs across the country and the Ministry has sought vacancies from all. By 2023, it is expected that over 2 lakh vacancies will be filled from the RRB recruitment 2023. In this drive, the focus will be on the posts related to Group D and C. According to the plan by Railway Ministry, Central Railway will be hiring for more than 2 lakh posts this year, majorly from the Group D and Group C posts. Except for the East, South East, and South West zones, there are more than 10 thousand vacancies.
Also, the Group A and B posts recruitment drive will start soon which will be done through UPSC. It is to be noted that the recruitment for the posts of Group A and Group B has not been conducted since 2020. A notification was published by RRB informing about the recruitment of 1,03,000 Group D posts.
What is RRB?
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is an organization that determines the career and job opportunities in Indian Railways. It was set up by the Ministry of Railways in 1998. It conducts its recruitment drive through exams to fill up the posts for Group C and Group D non-gazetted civil service, Paramedical, Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC), Junior Engineer, etc. The 21 offices of the Railway Recruitment Board in India are-

Group D & C posts are available in Railway Jobs, these are posted as per their Qualification. The Indian Railways are a major source of employment, with over 31 million people employed across the country. RRB acts as a facilitator between job seekers and employers offering them opportunities to work at various levels in the organization.
RRB recruits trainee engineers conducts a physical examination and shortlists qualified candidates for sending to Indian Railways Service Selection Board (RSSPC). RRB conducts several entrance exams every year to select a number of candidates who are eligible for various Group D and C posts. The board is authorized to conduct recruitment tests and issue advertising notices regarding vacancies in these organizations.
RRB has two main categories of recruitment: -
1) All India Level: It consists of vacancies like an assistant loco pilot, probationary staff, and other jobs like Junior Engineer and Others.
2) Regional Level: Suitable for recruits from different parts of India with the latest updates pertaining to their Location & City
It conducts both direct and indirect recruitment drives. These are mainly based on whether candidates qualify for the written examination or not and their educational qualifications.
