SAT 2023 Updates: Check all the updates below

Recently in 2022, a huge change in the process of conducting the SAT exams has been announced by the College Board. The change is to conduct the SAT exams 2023 digitally. Internationally, this mode of assessment is expected to come into use in 2023. However, the implementation of this change will be done in 2024. The SAT exams 2023 will be held on 11th March, 6th May, and 3rd June 2023 digitally.

What is changing?

The foremost change is to conduct the SAT exams 2023 digitally. Following this change, here are a few things to keep in mind-

1. Change in duration of the exam

Earlier, the SAT exams were held for 3 years but from now on, they will be for 2 hours. A change in the paper pattern results in only two sections from now on- a reading and writing section and a mathematics section.

The reading passages will now be shorter having one question tied to each passage. The passages will be from a wide range of topics that the students would read in college.

2. Faster results

The results will now be available in two to three weeks after the exam, as stated by College Board.

3. Convenient Exam

It will be easier for students now to take the exam on their laptop or tablet, and they will also be allowed a calculator for the math section.

4. Practice the new format

College Board provides the students with its digital testing app- Bluebook will help the students to understand and learn the new structure of the new mode of examination. It has a special feature where students, for a better understanding, can take a trial test using Bluebook.

What remains the same?

The scale on which the scores are assessed remains the same I.e., 1600. Students have to take the SAT exam at a test centre or school with an invigilator present.

Lastly, the motive of the SAT exams remains the same that is to test the knowledge and ability that are necessary for students in a university.

Tips for each section in the SAT exam-

Reading and Writing

Just reading won’t help but being an informed reader will. Newspapers are the best way to start, for example, New York Times, The Economist, or Washington Post.

This is because the reading passages may be taken from fictional work or the US Constitution. That is why an analytical mind will be needed to understand the main idea of such passages.

Reading helps in improving grammar and command over language rules which are still useful in the digital SAT exams.

Maths

Practice is mandatory. This is only going to help students to familiarise themselves with the formulas of the topics covered in the SAT.

About SAT

The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is an entrance exam in the US taken by students and used by many colleges and universities for deciding the admission of applicants.

The exam has mostly multiple-choice questions, however, students are supposed to write an answer for the maths questions.

A good SAT score depends on the university that the student wishes to go to. Every educational institution has a different criterion for SAT scores. So, make sure you check such information on the college/university website.
