UPSC CSE Prelims 2024: Admit Card to Be Released Soon
UPSC Prelims Admit Card 2024, based on past trends, admit cards are typically released around 10 days prior to the exam. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will soon release the admit cards for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, which is now scheduled for June 16, after previously being set for May 26. Registered candidates can download their hall tickets from the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in, once they become available. Pattern:-
The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam comprises two objective-type papers totaling 400 marks. The exam will be conducted in two sessions: the General Studies (GS) Paper in the first session from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) in the second session from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. This preliminary exam serves as a screening test to select candidates for the UPSC CSE Mains 2024 examination. Following the preliminary exam, the commission will release a list of candidates eligible for the Main exam, which requires a minimum qualifying score of 33%.
According to the official notification, approximately 1,056 vacancies in various central government services and departments, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), will be filled through this examination. This recruitment drive also reserves 40 vacancies for candidates in the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category.

As per the IAS exam pattern, this phase involves an interview conducted by the UPSC board to evaluate candidates' suitability for a civil services career and the associated responsibilities. The board comprises competent and impartial observers who are familiar with the candidates' career trajectory. During the interview, the board assesses various mental and social traits by posing questions of general interest. Among the qualities sought are mental alertness, critical thinking abilities, clear and coherent expression, sound judgment, diverse and profound interests, capacity for social integration and leadership, as well as intellectual and moral integrity. The total marks allocated for the UPSC interview stage amount to 275, thereby contributing to a total of 2025 marks for the UPSC Mains and Interview stages combined, which are considered for merit list consideration.
